ULTRA-CAVITATION: LIPOSUCTION WITHOUT SURGERY?
By Waldo Acebo, MD
If you are looking for an effective and safe way to get rid of stubborn body fat and cellulite without having surgery, Ultrasonic Cavitation might just be the answer to your quest. Recently introduced in the United States, ultra-cavitation has successfully been used as an alternative to liposuction for several years in over fifty countries, including Canada, Japan, Australia, and most of Europe.
How does it work?
Using the latest scientific research, Ultrasonic Cavitation uses a low frequency ultrasound beam to break down localized fat deposits. The ultrasound wave causes mechanical breakdown of the membrane of the fat cells or adipocytes. The content, primarily made of triglycerides, is released into the interstitial fluid, where it is metabolically processed and eliminated through the lymphatic and urinary system. The fatty cell membranes, already compromised, are broken down into glycerol and free fatty acids, which in turn are naturally eliminated through the liver, or used for energy by other body tissues.
What are its advantages?
Unlike liposuction, ultra-cavitation is noninvasive, does not require surgery or anesthesia, it is painless, and does not involve recovery time. It is widely accepted as a safe, reliable, low-risk option for patients who are not candidates for liposuction, or do not wish to undergo a surgical procedure.
Ultra-cavitation is a safe and effective method of reducing localized fat deposits, which given its storage mechanism, are resistant to exercise and diet. Ultra-cavitation causes a general reduction of waist, abdomen, buttocks, and thighs, which makes of it a leading body contouring treatment. In addition, ultra-cavitation visibly reduces cellulite. Although ultra-cavitation effectively reduces inches, it is not considered a method of weight loss.
Does ultra-cavitation cause saggy uneven skin?
The newest ultra-cavitation machines incorporate Bio-polar and Tri-polar radiofrequency technology. It effectively lifts, contours, and tightens saggy skin, by stimulating cells to create new and denser collagen. It is noninvasive, and it is safe for all skin types. By combining ultra-cavitation with radiofrequency, we prevent the formation of saggy, uneven skin that can be seen with other body contouring procedures, or ultra-cavitation alone.
How many sessions are usually needed?
The amount of sessions should be assessed on your initial consultation. A series of measurements are performed at the beginning and at the end of the procedure, in order to monitor the progress of the treatment. After one individual session, the results could show a loss of up to 2 cm per area, and these results are visible in as early as the third session; nevertheless, for optimal and long lasting results, an average of six to ten sessions is usually recommended.
